My First Chrismukkah Tree

Just like I almost burned the kitchen down (don’t ask, it’s too recent), I now have something else to practice firefighting with! I bought a Christmas Tree jijijijiijij

My first one ever, plus my first fake gifts.
Everything you see in there is fake (even the tree jej). Since Jason and I are going to Mexico Magico soon, we decided to buy gifts there, but I needed something for the tree, so I decided to wrap things from around the house hahah

OK the Wii is real (thank god), but…

The Victorias Secret bags = my scarfs
That red “Amor” bag = a sweater I don’t use
The Land of Nod bag in the back = socks, lots of them
The black “We love you” box = only memories
The gift under the black “We love you box” = my French vocab study cards
The silver bag behind the Mexican doll = my travel size hairspray
The blue thing next to the “Amor” bag = cake mix

Plus a final detail: the mini Mexican doll on the top holding a dreidel.

Remodeling 101 Lesson 1: Do It But Close Your Eyes

Party! We’re finally done with construction in the apartment. And by construction I meant “covering one wall with tile”, so doesn’t it sound all sweet and easy?

Well it was not!

We looked and looked for ideas, then looked and looked for tiles, then talked and talked about it, then it finally started, and for three days the place was filled with dust, very early mornings, funny smells and strangers drinking coffee and wearing shoes inside.

The place smells like grout and my bathroom smells like Lysol, but the TV room is homier and cuter than ever. We’re even setting it up on a date with our neighbor’s living room.

So, if you’re thinking about remodeling, keep in mind that:
- Things are not always as cheap as they seem
- “Material included” doesn’t mean that all material is included
- Strangers like stealing Mountain Dew
- There is such a thing as a Tile Mafia
- Putting tiles on a wall is trouble because of their weight
- The relationship with the person you live will be heavily tested throughout this process
- Floor tiling looks great on walls

Things I Want – 01

I know we spent hours looking for perfect furniture for our damned pink room. We also spent miles driving to oh too many places, and got angry at each other about almost everything during the process to warm this pretty, yet damned pink room up… until we managed to solve it via CB2, Dania, Chuck Anderson, Elfa/The Container Store… but now I want this.

Plus it’s called “Happy Pixels”! And it matches my toy box, look!!

Fact.

It’s just what I need…! Ok it’s just what I want.

The problem though, is:
1. We have no more space in our damned (yet pretty) pink room
2. It’s $249, the equivalent to a level in French. Or 71.14 boxes of Pop Tarts. Damn you, opportunity cost!
3. Jason might kick me out if I buy such a thing

Bathroompalooza

Excited as in nerd-excited, I present to you the latest additions to my pretty bathroom.

Jon Burgerman is now in my meds cabinet; boring before with all that girlie moisturizer, band-aids and Neosporin for when I get cut.

And my new CB2 graffiti shower curtain… which now makes me feel just like in any bathroom downtown.
Putting the curtain was also the first home project where Jason and I didn’t end up yelling at each other. Awww.
