Borders Dude
May 15, 2009 · 2 Comments
Has anyone seen the big dude that sits in the Borders on Clybourn/North/Halsted every Friday and all he does is read music for hours?
I see him every Friday. He gets there by 11am, picks the same table, and gets the eye-book contact going; he occasionally smiles when he reads some amusing music (I suppose).
Is he a retired teacher? Is he learning how to read music? Is he there just because Borders smells like soft pretzels all the time? Is he there just to confuse people, and so far no one has dared to ask him why the hell he sits at a Borders and reads music for at least 6 hours every Friday?
I want to know!

Aujourd’hui: Museum of Science & Industry And Creepy Blog Stats
February 12, 2009 · Leave a Comment
This is the creepiest thing. Between yesterday and today my humble blog (your humble blog) got 1,249 hits. 663 yesterday, 586 today.
WHAT?!
This is way creepier than when I saw a car moving next to me and thought that my car was the one moving. Or that one time when I ran into someone from Monterrey on Michigan Avenue. Orrr, that other time when I was quoted saying “I’d never live in the US, that’s for foos!”
The funniest thing is that the post everyone in the Internet seemed to be so interested in, was this one. About the food pyramid! WTF :)
Anyway, after that awesome Internet moment (very possibly robot-made), here are my pictures from the Museum Of Science And Industry.
Now, things that surprised me from this city trip:
1. How far it really is from the Loop
2. How easy it is to get there if you don’t count the bus ride you have to take
3. The amazingness of the Fairy Castle
4. Their genetically modified frogs
5. Their gigantic enormous tremendous city of Chicago model
5. How unsurprised I was when I finished going through it
I did, however, took some pretty pictures and had a great time hanging out with Talia.
Today’s special: Bad typography and salmonella water

Orray gotta go, I have to go write something about mitochondries and carbs.

Out And About In The Cold
February 9, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Wow, I can’t believe it took me like 3 weeks to leave the apartment after coming back from Mexico. It’s just too cold. And snowy. And my levels of serotonin are all over the place- my birthday is coming soon.
Anyway, I went downtown for a bit and took these. Then I went to the Museum of Science and Industry with Talia and took some more, but those will come later.

I got an unpleasant online comment, possibly from a human (and/or a tourist in Mexico) about my San Miguel de Allende post.
Weekend Update to you, people: SMA was even better when it was still very Mexican.
A man tried to sell me an apartment so I wouldn’t have to work at a coffee shop.
My French teacher is Santa Claus, and he gave me the second book of my chosen learning method, which I couldn’t find anywhere.
I’m back to studying at night, beware.
There’s a new Adidas store at Water Tower Place. There’s nothing good in there, I think it’s intended for the “regular” customers, whereas the store on Rush is still for the “cool kids”. Don’t bother going. Or do, it’s warm in there.
I found an “iPod for dummies” book: Click on it. Turn the wheel, click again. Put earphones on, listen. Graduation day!
I saw Chucky (from Child’s Play, you know what I’m taking about) sitting innocently in a corner of a Caribou Coffee. I would’ve stabbed him, but they only have plastic knives there.
